How are Original or Advanced Systems Different?
Our Advanced System is a more natural product because it does not contain parabens, sulfates, or formaldehyde. The biggest change was to our Color Therapy Shampoo; we completely changed the preservative system (removing parabens) and removed sulfates to further enhance the color support. We added to the system additional amino acids, different proteins and panthenol to support how the products work together to provide better benefits; improved flexibility, stronger and longer hair.

Which system should I use?
We believe the Advanced formulations to be better, we have strengthened the synergy between products using complementary ingredients and are proud to offer a paraben-free preservative system to achieve a more natural product.

Will Ovation products help my hair grow thicker?
Yes, the Ovation Hair® Care System will help your hair grow thicker, stronger, and longer without changing the texture of your hair. Each hair follicle has a growth cycle and the timing of each follicle is independent of one another. Ovation accelerates the growth rate of your hair causing follicles in the dormant stage to begin growing, which, in turn, allows more hair to grow at one time.

How long do Ovation products take to work?

What are other factors that affect hair growth?

Do you use Paraben in your products?
Our Original System products do use nethylparaben and propylparaben as the preservative system and we consider them safe with their long history of use. This preservative system is approved by the Federal Drug Administration. However, due to recent news articles we created our NEW Advanced Cell Therapy System. Our Advanced products DO NOT contain parabens. For our Advanced groundbreaking formulas we created a new paraben free preservative system that will provide the same amazing results and product reliability that our original formulas provided.

What happened to the Hair Maximizing System and the Special System Pack?
We revised the name to better reflect the product. You can now find all the information under Cell Therapy System.

What are some simple tips to keep my hair healthy after using Ovation products?

How do Ovation products work on African-American hair?
Our products are not only safe but beneficial for ALL hair types. We do have many African-American clients, with varying hair, who have had great success with our products. All of our products have deep moisturizing ingredients and are gentle on the hair. Cell Therapy Hair Treatment will make your hair up to 30% stronger to combat the damage caused by heated styling tools and chemical treatments, while our Crème Rinse Moisturizer is a great smoother and detangler.

I only wash my hair a few times a month. Will Cell Therapy Hair Treatment work for me?
Yes. It is common with naturally dry and coarse hair to only wash it a few times per month. Between shampoos with Ovation Color Therapy Shampoo, apply Cell Therapy Hair Treatment to moist hair. Massage the product into the scalp using your fingertips and massage. Leave in for as long as eight hours (or overnight), then rinse. Then apply pomades, oils or other products that are part of your usual beauty routine. Do not exceed three Cell Therapy Hair Treatment applications between shampoos. Overuse of Cell Therapy Hair Treatment may result in stiff or weighed down hair, and possible breakage.

If I use Cell Therapy Hair Treatment, when do I apply pomades/oils?
The best time to apply pomades is after your Cell Therapy Hair Treatment application. To achieve maximum results, use Cell Therapy Hair Treatment overnight. Then apply oil/pomade, and comb through. Style as usual. Cover you hair with a soft scarf (satin or silk) to protect the hair. This process will leave the hair shiny and hydrated.

If I wear extensions or relax my hair, can I still use Cell Therapy Hair Treatment?
Yes. The ingredients in Ovation products are all naturally derived, so they do not interfere with any chemical processing. With extensions, the only concern is slippage. “Real” extension hair may absorb excessive protein, so it is important to concentrate application to the scalp. Refer to stylist care recommendations for additional information.

How does Ovation Cell Therapy® Hair Treatment compare to other hair growth products, like Rogaine®??
Ovation Cell Therapy Hair Treatment is formulated to accomplish similar or better results without the side effects sometimes associated with these products. Do I really need shampoo? I’m male, and shaved my head once I started losing my hair.
Yes. Our Color Therapy Shampoo removes DHT build-up, which has been found to contribute to male pattern balding, from the scalp and follicles.

Are the products in your Men’s Max Pack different from the other Ovation products?
No. All Ovation products are formulated exactly the same and designed to serve the hair and skin care needs of both men and women.

Why doesn’t the Men’s Max Pack include the Crème Rinse Moisturizer?
Our studies have shown that men typically prefer not to use a moisturizer as part of their daily hair treatment. Our Men’s Max Pack includes only the Color Therapy Shampoo and Cell Therapy Hair Treatment. For men who prefer a moisturizer, we recommend the Cell Therapy System.

What ingredients in Cell Therapy Hair Treatment make your hair grow?
Cell Therapy Hair Treatment nourishes the hair and scalp with proteins, vitamins and amino acids that bind and absorb into the hair shaft to create thicker, longer, stronger and visibly healthier hair.

Can I use Cell Therapy Hair Treatment every day?
Some of our customers use Cell Therapy Treatment as a shower treatment every day with great success. However, it is generally recommended that you use Cell Therapy Hair Treatment as a leave-in treatment no more than three times a week or twice between washes to properly balance the protein in your hair.

Can I use Cell Therapy Hair Treatment with other hair growth or strengthening products?
Because Cell Therapy Hair Treatment is fortified with protein and amino acids, using it in conjunction with a product that may also contain protein may result in over-exposure. Please consult your stylist or dermatologist before incorporating any other product into any Ovation Hair® Care System.

How much Cell Therapy Hair Treatment should I apply with each treatment?
We recommend using product that measures a little over the size of a quarter in the palm of your hand with each Cell Therapy Hair Treatment use.

Can I use my own shampoo or conditioner with Cell Therapy Hair Treatment and still get good results?
Many lesser-quality shampoos and conditioners contain certain ingredients, such as waxes and silicones, that coat the hair. These coatings often slow down the absorption of Cell Therapy Hair Treatment into the hair follicles. Our Color Therapy Shampoo removes the residue that other products leave behind so that Cell Therapy Hair Treatment can be most effectively and instantly absorbed to achieve maximum results. Then our Crème Rinse Moisturizer balances proteins and locks-in moisture for maximum effectiveness—without making your hair feel limp or weighty.

If I use more Cell Therapy, do I get More/Better results?

Do I need to use Ovation Crème Rinse Moisturizer?
Our Crème Rinse Moisturizer helps moisturize and soften your hair, as well as increase shine, prevent breakage and maximize hair length. Using our Crème Rinse Moisturizer also maximizes the effectiveness of all other Ovation products by working synergistically to balance proteins and maintain well-nourished, fully moisturized hair.

I don’t use conditioners because they weigh down my thin hair. Do I still need the Crème Rinse Moisturizer?
Yes. Our Crème Rinse Moisturizer is not a conditioner, but a moisturizer. We do not use any oils, waxes or silicones that can weigh down your hair.

Is the Crème Rinse Moisturizer a leave-in treatment?
Our Crème Rinse Moisturizer is not a leave-in treatment. For a leave-in treatment, try our Cell Therapy Hair Treatment.

Can I use Ovation Color Therapy Shampoo every day?
Yes. Our Color Therapy Shampoo is a gentle cleanser that is safe and effective for every day use.

Does Color Therapy Shampoo contain sulfates?
Our ADVANCED Color Therapy Shampoo formula does not contain sulfates. Our Original formula, the darker blue bottles, uses Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a gentle, foaming surfactant that is derived from natural coconut extract. It is gentle on hair, and will not strip away highlights, unlike lesser products containing harsher sulfates.

Can Color Therapy Shampoo really help maintain my hair color or bring color back into my hair?
Yes. Ovation Color Therapy Shampoo is specifically formulated to maintain color on treated hair and help regenerate natural pigmentation in faded or gray hair. Many customers report the return of lost color after just a few weeks of use.
